The Chicago Blackhawks outlasted the host San Jose Sharks, 4-3 in overtime, in a battle of elite Western Conference teams.

With the Blackhawks picking up 2 points with the win, these are the only two teams in the NHL with more points (San Jose 79, Chicago 78) than the Capitals (76), and they played up to the hype.

I’m not going to get into details, but watching the 2nd and 3rd period on NHL Network makes me hope these two face each other again in the playoffs. So much skill, speed and size and everyone on the ice wanted this win.

Hopefully if they do play in the 2nd season, they will wear each other down – just in case a certain Southeast division leader from the Eastern Conference happens to face one of them for the chance to shake Lord Stanley’s hand.
