From the Capitals website: “With the help of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, the Capitals are offering Maryland drivers the unique opportunity to bid on 31 of the first 100 license plates. Proceeds from the auction of the Caps Maryland license plates will benefit Washington Capitals Charities.”

This is pretty cool, even if the numbers tend to be the misfit digits within the top 100. Seeing as I’m still waiting to iron out all the necessary information, official documents and inspection to register my car in Maryland (still sporting Cali tags) I’m not eligible to take part. The rules state, “To bid on a Caps Maryland license plate, you must be a registered driver in the state of Maryland and possess a vehicle with a valid Maryland registration.”

Oh well, I’m sure I’ll add one before too long. But what to put on it?

“2011” to commemorate the first Stanley Cup in Washington? Wouldn’t that be nice.
